Windsor James has been on C1RCA for over a decade so it only made sense to pick his brain on what he considers a good skate shoe. For our 2016 Footwear Guide presented by Skate Warehouse, we caught up with Windsor to get the rundown on his favorite C1RCA model, how involved he is with the designing of his shoes, toe cap vs. no cap, and much more.

What C1RCA model do you skate the most?
My pro model: The Essential.

What are some key elements that you look for in a good skate shoe?
Comfort, stability and I’d say looks! No one wants to look down at their feet and be bummed! That can ruin your day.

How involved are you with the designing of the shoes you skate?
I was involved with the design of my shoe about 60%. You can’t go too crazy because the sales people know what’s good and not good!

How often do you go through a pair of shoes?
I skate shoes like PJ Ladd did in the Coliseum video—if the padding in the sole is good I can skate a shoe for ages.

Do you prefer vulcanized shoes or cup soles?
Vulcanized is the best for feeling, but hurtful on the feet. So it’s really up to the person.

Where do you stand in the toe cap vs. no cap deabate?
I like them both!? They’re both WET.

Hi top, mid top, or low top?
ALL. If the shoe looks good, wear it no matter what!

Some dudes prefer to skate without insoles but some dudes need a nice, thick insole to feel comfortable. Which do you prefer?
I use the stock C1RCA insoles and just cruise with that. I’d rather have board feeling than pillows to land on [laughs].

Do you skate your shoes straight out of the box or do you have some remedies like the microwave trick?
Straight out the box, then grip tape the sides till the Casper flip is on. Trevor Colden knows what I’m talking about! [Laughs]

If you could skate one pair of shoes for the rest of your life what would they be?
The Essential, baby boy!

Go Skateboarding Day se întoarce pe marmura din Racadau!

Si noua ne este greu ss credem c-au trecut deja 6 ani de când sarbatorim Ziua Internationala a Skateboarding-ului împreuna si ne dezlantuim pe strazile Brasovului! Timp de 6 ani am tinut mortis ca aceasta zi sa ramâna vie pentru orice skateboarder si ca toti membrii comunitatii de skate sa se bucure de ea.

Go Skateboarding Day îsi propune sa celebreze skateboarding-ul în cea mai pura forma a sa si sa promoveze spiritul creativ al acestuia. Deja o traditie în toata puterea cuvântului a scenei autohtone, Go Skateboarding Day aduna an de an cei mai buni skateri din România pentru sesiuni de neuitat pe strazile Brasovului, perla coroanei fiind întotdeauna ansamblul de trepte de pe Pietonalul Racadau, socotit de multi cel mai bun spot de skate din România. Go Skateboarding Day este interconectat la o serie de evenimente similare de pe întreg mapamondul care se desfasoara simultan, iar numeroase orase de pe toate meridianele îsi dau mâna pentru a promova mesajul pozitiv pe care-l transmite skateboarding-ul de ziua sa, pe 21 iunie.

Go Skateboarding Day se manifesta printr-o defilare ampla prin întregul oras, ce atinge punctele lui cheie si este condimentata cu diverse concursuri pentru participanti si pentru public.

Anul acesta programul traditional este usor modificat, deci fiti pe faza!

Ora 11:30 – intalnire in Livada Postei (zona Dupa Ziduri)
Ora 12:00 – defilare sub escorta pâna în skatepark-ul din Centrul Civic
Ora 12:30 – Switch Ollie & Kids Contest în skatepark
Ora 14:30 – plecare spre Racadau
Ora 15:30 – început de sesiune în Racadau la diferitele seturi de trepte
Ora 18:00 – încheierea sesiunii din Racadau si plecare înapoi spre skatepark
Ora 18:30 – premierea în skatepark a câstigatorilor de la sesiunea din Racadau
Ora 22:00 – afterparty

Marea noutate pentru Go Skateboarding Day 2011 este ca vom avea pentru prima data si un rail la setul de 11 trepte din Racadau! Premii, ca de obicei, de la partenerii nostri Flavashop si Creme Skateboards.

Locul de desfasurare al petrecerii urmeaza sa fie comunicat ulterior. Avem surprize de bun augur si în acest sens!

Înca o surpriza: In mod traditional propunem ss decontam cel putin o parte din cheltuielile de drum ale participantilor la eveniment, dupa cum ne permite bugetul avnd in vedere ca asteptam cel putin 100 de skateri din alte localitati.

Pe 21 Iunie, se intampla Ziua Internationala a Skateboarding-ului. E un fel de Revelion in toiul verii, la care participa 3 miliarde de rideri din toata lumea. Asa ca intra si burn pe fir, ca sa ureze tuturor riderilor din Romania: Happy New Skateburning si la cat mai multe trick-uri in anul care vine! Si, ca sa fim siguri ca urarea se indeplineste, punem la bataie 50 de skate-uri burn in editie limitata.
E simplu: daca stii de ce te dai pe skate, burn iti da o placa pe care sa te dai in continuare.
Uploadeaza aici o poza cu tine si skate-ul tau si explica-ne ce te face sa zbori pe el in fiecare zi, in campul de descriere a imaginii. Mentioneaza si numele, prenumele si nickname-ul tau, ca sa stim pe cine vom premia.
Daca manifestul tau de skater convinge echipa de rideri pro burn, iti sarbatoresti ziua cu un skate custom nou-nout.
Deci, spor la fotografiat, scris si bineinteles, mult spor la dat!
